Moment — Privacy Policy

Last updated · October 2026

Moment is a camera app that keeps your photos in a box on your phone. This policy explains what happens to your data.

In short

Without an account, Moment works fully on your phone. Nothing is collected and nothing leaves your device.

Signing in is optional. If you sign in, Moment backs up your photos so they appear on all your devices.

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. Your data is never sold or shared for marketing.

You can delete any photo, or your whole account, from inside the app.

What Moment stores on your phone

Photos you take or add, and small previews of them.

Where each photo rests in the box and your camera choices (on or off, front or back).

The background you chose and the camera's style. A photo you picked as the background is kept as a separate copy.

These stay on your phone, whether or not you sign in.

If you don't sign in

Moment collects nothing. It does not connect to the internet and never uploads your photos or any other data.

If you sign in

You can sign in with Apple or Google in Settings, under Backup. Then Moment collects:

Account: your email address and the user id that Apple or Google gives Moment. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; Apple then shares a private relay address instead. Google may also share your name and profile picture; Moment does not use them.

Photos: the original file of each photo in your box.

Photo details: an id for each photo, when it was taken, its shape, whether it was taken with the front camera, and its file type and size.

Technical logs: our servers record basic request details, such as IP address and time, to keep the service running and secure. These are kept for a short time only.

Moment uses this only to back up your photos and keep them the same on your devices. Not synced: where photos rest in the box, your background and camera style, and your settings.

Who handles your data

Moment uses three service providers, which process data only on our behalf:

Supabase: sign-in and the database of photo details. Located in Singapore.

Cloudflare R2: storage for photo files. Files are encrypted at rest and kept private; only you can open them, through short-lived links the app requests for you.

Railway: hosts Moment's server, in Singapore.

All data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

How long data is kept

Backed-up photos and their details are kept until you delete the photo or your account. When you delete a photo, its file and details are removed from our active storage promptly; only its id is kept, marked deleted, so your other devices remove it too. Copies in our providers' routine backups expire on their own within about a week.

Deleting your data

One photo: open it and choose Delete. If you are signed in, it is also deleted from the backup and from your other devices.

Your account: open Settings, then Backup, then Delete account. This deletes all your backed-up photos and their details from our servers, deletes your account, and revokes Sign in with Apple. Photos already on your phone stay on your phone.

Signing out stops syncing. Photos on your phone stay there, and your backup stays in your account until you delete it.

On your phone: a photo used as the background is a separate copy; choose another background to remove it. Removing the app deletes everything Moment stored on that phone. Device backups you make may include your photos, under your own backup settings.

Permissions

Camera: to take photos inside the app.

Photos: to add a photo from your library when the camera is not available or camera access is off, or to use one as the background. Moment only sees the photos you pick.

Microphone: never used. Moment does not record audio.

Motion: read only while Moment is on screen, to tilt the photos in the box with your phone. Nothing from it is stored or uploaded.

Children

Moment is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. Without signing in, Moment collects no data from anyone. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at thetwentylabs.com/moment-capture/privacy with a new effective date. If a change affects data already collected, we will say so in the app.
